To commemorate a friend’s remarkable journey of endurance, perseverance and moxie — riding her bicycle down down the beautiful Pacific Coast Highway of California, unsupported — I put my creativity to work and designed a piece that would highlight her bicycle tour. The northern California legs were accompanied by friends, but from San Francisco to the Mexico border, she was entirely solo.
